Authorized Dealer

Thirty of the most popular Spydercos

Bear Mountain Outfitters is an authorized Spyderco dealer in historic downtown St. Augustine. Every knife below has the round hole in the blade — Spyderco's own way of opening a knife, and what makes one recognisable across a room. These thirty are drawn from the 113 products Spyderco currently lists as best sellers, and they are sorted the way Spyderco itself thinks about knives: by the lock. They are built in four countries — Japan, the United States, Taiwan and China — and each card says which.

Back Lock

A rocker bar in the spine that snaps into a notch in the blade tang — Spyderco's workhorse, and the lock on the two knives most people mean when they say Spyderco. The whole rust-proof Salt line sits here too. Ordered by how many best-selling variants Spyderco lists for each.

Spyderco Native 5 knife

Native 5

Back lock · USA

The American-made mid-size, and the model with more best-selling variants than any other in the line — thirteen of them. Full-flat CPM S30V on a G-10 frame at three ounces.

Spyderco Police 4 knife

Police 4

Back lock · Japan

Ten inches open and still only 4.2 ounces, because the handle is FRN instead of steel. The long, narrow blade is the whole point of it.

Spyderco Salt 2 knife

Salt 2

Compression Lock

Spyderco's own lock: a leaf spring wedged between the blade tang and a stop pin, released from the spine rather than the side — so closing the knife never puts a finger in front of the edge. Nine of the thirty, and the section its enthusiasts argue for.

Spyderco Para 3 knife

Para 3

Compression lock · USA

The Para Military shortened into something that carries easily — a 2.93-inch blade in CPM S45VN on a full G-10 frame, made in the USA.

Other Locks

Spyderco builds more lock types than anyone else on this wall. These eight are everything that is neither a back lock nor a compression lock: a ball bearing lock, a SlipIt, three slip joints, two Walker liner locks and a Reeve integral lock. The chip on each card names its own.

Spyderco Manix 2 knife

Manix 2

Ball bearing lock · USA

A caged ball bearing rides between the tang and the frame, so the knife closes from either side without a finger crossing the blade's path. MagnaMax steel, made in the USA.

Specifications are Spyderco's own published figures for the model shown, read from each product page on 28 August 2026. Most of these models are also built in other steels, grinds, edges and handle colours, which differ in weight; the photograph may show a different colourway from the variant whose specifications are listed, though blade length, steel and weight are the same across a model's colours. How these thirty were chosen: Spyderco publishes a Best Selling collection holding 113 products, which resolve to 31 distinct knife models once colour, steel and size variants are folded together. Thirty of those 31 are here, ordered within each section by how many best-selling variants Spyderco lists for that model. It is not a ranking of what sells in this shop. No prices, stock levels or online ordering — this page is a reference, not a catalog.
